We’re excited to announce that Amazon Luna is teaming up with GOG (formerly Good Old Games) and game developers to bring a selection of GOG’s games to Luna. We’re always adding fresh new games to Luna, and soon, we’re bringing customers even more game selection with the launch of GOG on Luna. Amazon Prime members and Luna+ subscribers will be able to play available GOG games they already own and purchase games and play on any device Luna is available — from PC classics like Stardew Valley to popular AAA titles like The Witcher Series and Cyberpunk 2077.
GOG is a digital game store offering over 9,000 DRM-free titles on Windows, Mac and Linux. With over 1,000 global partners, GOG’s ongoing mission to “make games last forever” means today’s gamers and generations to come can enjoy their favorite games at any time. GOG’s integration on Luna not only helps customers quickly access and play high-quality games without lengthy game downloads on devices they already own, but also opens up a new world of possibilities for game developers and publishers. Luna helps game developers reach millions of Amazon customers everywhere Luna is available on Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Twitch, and Prime Gaming.
Many customers enjoy owning the games they love and with this upcoming update, we’re bringing them more ways to play. Customers will be able to play GOG games they already own and purchase games to play on Luna compatible devices, including Amazon Fire TV and Fire Tablet devices, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, mobile devices (iOS and Android), and desktop devices (PCs, MacBooks, Chromebooks). GOG games purchased through Luna will come with a traditional game license, allowing customers to play the game on Luna as well as download it and play offline using the GOG PC launcher. Customers have the option to use their existing keyboard and mouse, Bluetooth game controllers, or the Luna Controller with Cloud Direct technology for lower latency gaming.
Starting today, Amazon is making it even easier for game developers to bring their games to Luna’s cloud gaming service through this new integration with GOG. Game developers can onboard games to Luna, unlocking additional revenue and reaching new audiences with a simple intake process.
“We are excited to provide our customers with more choice and flexibility in how they play. With Luna and GOG, we see an opportunity to to get our games in front of a new audience of gamers and tap into Amazon’s reach across Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Twitch, and Prime Gaming” said Pierre Vinson, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships, Plaion.
