Covering beauty for over a decade, founder Bee Shapiro became pregnant with her daughter Ellis and was living in Brooklyn (hence Ellis Brooklyn!). Bee found there were no sophisticated clean options for fragrance. She went on a journey to redefine perfume in the clean beauty era. Ellis Brooklyn officially launched in 2015, driven by a passion for beautifully scented, sustainably sourced fragrances that evoke well-being and real-life experiences.

We believe that global standards, which are tested by labs & backed by real science, are the ideal starting point for clean beauty. Our baseline is the European Union rules, which bans more than 1300 ingredients. We also compare with rules in Australia, Japan & Canada & any new scientifically backed research that comes out.
