The APS-C sensor uses copper wiring for better conductivity and enhanced circuit processing to help optimize light-collection efficiency. Improved noise suppression produces cleaner images in dark settings where high-sensitivity shooting is required. The native ISO sensitivity reaches a maximum ISO 32000, with expanded ISO sensitivity up to ISO 51200 for stills. Noise reduction is particularly effective in the frequently used medium-to-high sensitivity range.

Fast continuous shooting at up to 11 frames per second, with AF/AE

Impressively speedy internal processing and the high-capacity buffer memory mean you can fire off continuous shots at up to 11 fps with after-view or 8 fps for real-time preview, with minimal display lag. You can take around 77 shots in JPEG (Standard) format in one continuous burst.

High-resolution 4K movie recording

The α6100 can shoot continuously without shutter noise at up to 8 fps with AF/AE tracking, even in AF-C mode, and with Real-time Eye AF or with Real-time Tracking.

Wi-Fi/NFC/QR code for easy file transfer and remote control Easily connect with NFC or QR code (for non-NFC devices) to smartphones or tablets with the built-in Wi-Fi and Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile application available for free on the Android and iOS platforms. The Alpha 6100 incorporates Sony’s unrivaled 4D FOCUS system for unsurpassed fast autofocus (AF) acquisition time that can lock focus on even the fastest moving subject in as little as 0.02 seconds. It also boasts an incredible 425 phase detection and 425 contrast detection AF points that are densely positioned over 84% of the image area, effectively tracking subjects as they move across the frame. Moreover, the Alpha 6600 takes full advantage of its enhanced fast hybrid AF for movies in both HD and 4K3. Both AF detection accuracy and tracking performance have been boosted.

Real-time Eye AF for animal

Sony’s innovative eye-detection algorithms have been adapted to animal as well as human, to give you sharply focused pet portraits and beautiful wildlife shots.

Advanced “Real-time Eye AF” employs (AI) artificial intelligence, including machine learning , to detect and process eye data in real time, resulting in improved accuracy, speed and tracking performance of Eye AF. Eye AF can be employed for humans, animals and when recording movie. With a half press of the shutter button, the camera can automatically detect the eyes of the subject and activate Eye AF in all autofocus modes. When in either AF-C or AF-A mode, eye capture is continuously maintained. Additionally, the preferred eye (right or left) of your subject can be selected as the focus point. Choices include Auto/Right Eye/Left Eye, and a Switch Right/Left Eye function is assignable to a custom function or the touchscreen panel.

Real-time Tracking

Keeping active subjects in constant, steady focus is absolutely vital to capturing every important moment, whether you’re covering a sporting event or documenting everyday life. Sony’s sophisticated AI-based subject-tracking algorithms won’t let you down, processing massive volumes of spatial data at high speed and in real time. This can be activated by a simple half press of the shutter button, or can be assigned to a custom function as well. The subject to be tracked can also be specified by touching it on the monitor when the Touch Tracking function is engaged.

Convenient Touch Tracking and Touch Focus features

The camera’s Touch Tracking feature provides smooth, continuous focus tracking of your subject, and it can be activated with a simple touch of the display screen. Once you have set Touch Tracking in the menu you can select your subject simply by touching the monitor. Whether you’re taking stills or movies, the camera will begin auto-tracking. The Touch Focus feature is also simple to use – just touch the appropriate point on the monitor to set the focus.
