Product Description
MasonryDefender Gloss Patio Paver Sealer is a durable, water-based, clear sealer designed to protect and beautify both clay brick and cement patio type paver stones, giving them a gloss, angular sheen. It’s formulated with a high performance acrylic resin that provides protection from both water and the ultra-violet light of the sun. It can be used on most types of horizontal, above grade concrete and masonry applications including: clay brick, clay paver stones, cement paver stones and natural stone. It gives pavers a gloss sheen, with a wet-look. NOTE: The amount of sheen created is dependent on the porosity of the surface as well as number of coats applied. Porous surfaces will not exhibit as much sheen as dense/smooth surfaces. Test in an inconspicuous area first to ensure satisfactory results.
Water Based
MasonryDefender Gloss Paver Sealer is a VOC Compliant (<100 g/L) Water-Based Sealer That’s Easier On the Environment Than Solvent Based Sealers
Gloss Wet-Look Sheen
Protect your pavers and enhance the color of your patio. This product gives a gloss sheen, creating a wet look.
Repels Water
Get water repellent protection to prevent freeze-thaw damage such as cracking or pitting and flaking.
Add Non-Slip Additive for Better Grip
To avoid surfaces from becoming slippery when wet, consider using MasonryDefender Non-Slip Additive. Apply the first coat of sealer with a pump up garden sprayer. Once the sealer is dry enough to walk on, and the joint sand is hardened in place, add one 4 oz. container of non-slip additive to each gallon, and apply with a short nap paint roller. The non slip additive cannot be added to a sprayer as it may clog the nozzle. It must be rolled on with a paint roller. Alternatively it can be broadcast across a surface that is still wet with sealer.
2.5 Gallon Easy-Pour Containers
Now available in 2.5 gallon jugs that are easier to carry, pour, and open than bulky, 5 gallon cans. If you have a larger project, then use one of these containers and give your back a rest!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will this give my pavers a wet look?
Yes, this product will create a wet look, gloss sheen. The amount of sheen created will vary based on number of coats applied, and the porosity of the surface.
————————-
Is this a clear product?
During application, it looks milky white. As it dries, it becomes totally clear.
————————-
Does this make my pavers slippery?
Smooth or dense surfaces could become slick when wet. Depending on the number of coats applied, surfaces can become slick when wet. To create a non-slip surface, add a 4 oz. container of MasonryDefender Non-Slip Additive to each gallon of sealer.
————————-
Does it have a strong odor?
No, this product is very low odor.
————————-
What’s the best way to cleanup?
This is a water based product, so you can use soap and water to cleanup. For even easier cleanup, consider using an industrial orange hand cleaner such as Gojo, or similar type product.
————————-
How many coats should I apply?
Apply 2 coats of Gloss Patio Paver Sealer with a pump-up garden sprayer. Allow the first coat to dry before applying the second. Don’t allow the product to form puddles. If this happens, use a soft bristle push broom to spread the product around until it absorbs.
————————-
How long does it take to dry?
Dry time can vary, but will normally take 1-2 hours in warm weather, and low humidity. High humidity or cooler weather can lengthen dry times.
————————-
Can this be used on a paver driveway?
No, this product is not suited for use on driveways with hot tire traffic. It’s best suited for use on patios, porches, sidewalks, or any horizontal paver surface with foot traffic only. For driveways, consider using MasonryDefender Low Gloss Paver Sealer, as it has been designed and tested to perform well on driveways with hot tire traffic.
————————-
Does it resist oil stains?
Once treated, most oil stains will easily wipe off as long as they are cleaned up quickly. If stains are allowed to sit on the surface of the pavers and penetrate in, they can become difficult to remove. This product, like all acrylic sealers, will not hold up to brake fluid.
————————-
How much product do I need?
Coverage rates will vary based on how porous the surface is. For cement pavers, figure 75-150 sq. ft. per gallon. For clay pavers, figure 150-200 sq. ft. per gallon. This coverage rate is for 2 coats.
